Unsolicited commercial email (commonly known as spam) and virus-infected messages now account for well over 90% of all email sent to many domain names. For many users, ploughing through and deleting tens or even hundreds of spam emails has become an increasingly irritating and time-wasting daily task. |
But now there is an answer! TDMWeb's Enhanced AntiSpam and AntiVirus Service can eliminate all virus infected messages and 98% or more of all spam well before it reaches your mailbox. We use state-of-the-art software, with constantly updated rules and data, running on dedicated filtering hardware. |
How Does It Work? |

Email for your domain is first routed to a dedicated email firewall appliance. Antivirus software is used to check for virus infection: infected messages are discarded. Using a multilayered approach, a spam score is calculated for each message, representing the probability that the message is spam. Messages classified as spam can be quarantined, deleted, or just tagged and delivered anyway. Mail for delivery is then sent on to the mailserver handling your email, and so into the relevant mailbox. Two spam threshold scores are used. Messages with a score at or above the first threshold are quarantined, and messages with a score at or above the second (higher) threshold are just discarded. Using a web-based control panel, you can manage your quarantined messages, add entries to your whitelist (email senders whose mail will always be allowed through) and blacklist (email addresses to always block) and set up emailing of quarantine reports to yourself. When managing your quarantined messages, you can choose to deliver, whitelist or delete each message (or just delete them all). You can also view messages to check they are really spam. In our experience, if the threshold levels are set correctly you should only very occasionally see a "real" email message in your quarantine. If you wish, you can treat the Enhanced AntiSpam and AntiVirus Service as a "black box" and just let it delete virtually all your spam, with no ongoing intervention from you required. |

To order our Enhanced AntiSpam and AntiVirus Service please contact us. We will assess your hosting account and advise how many email addresses you are using and which price band is appropriate for your account. Once payment details are arranged, your new AntiSpam service can be up and running within an hour! Note that you must have the "catchall" facility disabled on your email configuration: this is necessary so that we can calculate how many valid email addresses you are using, and also reduces incoming spam (by enabling spam to invalid addresses to be rejected before processing). We can offer our Enhanced AntiSpam and AntiVirus Service even if your email is not hosted with us. |

The email component of all of our hosting packages includes AntiSpam and AntiVirus capability. So why pay extra for an add-on service? The simple answer is that our Enhanced AntiSpam and AntiVirus Service offers a significant step up in its ability to prevent unwanted mail getting to your inbox, compared to the Standard service. In our own tests, we have seen a very noticeable difference and we believe you will also. Here are some key areas where our Enhanced AntiSpam and AntiVirus Service offers improved performance: 98% or more of all spam eradicated. Two Antivirus engines (Kaspersky and Clam), compared to one for Standard AntiSpam. Multilayered AntiSpam analysis with multiple tools, compared to single layer analysis (SpamAssassin) for Standard AntiSpam. Hourly updates of AntiSpam rules/database and AntiVirus data. AntiSpam includes automated learning functionality: the more spam it sees, the better it handles future spam. OCR engine to enable scanning of image-based spam. Uses databases of known spammers. Large number of custom AntiSpam rules, which are constantly being added to. Two-level handling of spam: messages with a spam score exceeding the first threshold are quarantined; messages with a spam score exceeding the second threshold are deleted. This allows you to check for genuine mail which may have been classed as spam, without having to wade through very large number of messages that are definitely spam. Threshold values are configurable. Web-based spam quarantine allows you to delete, whitelist or pass quarantined email. Quarantined mail is automatically deleted after the quarantine period expires. Extremely low false positive rate of less than 0.03% means you are very unlikely to have real email classed as spam. |
